Like a St. Regis Resort, Except You Bring Your Own Room

If you’re looking for an upscale RV resort with top-notch amenities and an adjoining golf course that lives up to its reputation, Hilton Head National RV Resort should be on your list. Located just a short drive from Hilton Head Island in Bluffton, SC, this resort offers a luxurious experience for travelers who want the best of both worlds—relaxation and recreation. Terri and I stayed here in the spring of 2022, shortly after the resort opened. At the time we never thought an RV park could have the amenities and experience of a St. Regis or Ritz Carlton. We put it at the top of our list of resorts to return to.

RV Resort Experience

From the moment you arrive, you can tell that Hilton Head National RV Resort isn’t just another place to park your rig—it’s an experience. The sites are spacious, level concrete, and beautifully landscaped, with full hookups, and adequate Wi-Fi connectivity. There are also 150 cable TV channels in HD with an excellent signal (we all know how some RV parks struggle with a clear TV signal). They have large fire pits in each site, although there was a fire ban during our stay due to recent South Carolina wild fires. The roads are wide, making navigation easy even for larger rigs. The resort features RFID key cards for access to the grounds via two secure gates, making for very safe environment. The Key cards also give you access to shower and laundry facilities that are too luxurious to skip (you’ll want to wash your clothes here).

The resort amenities are nothing short of impressive. There is a huge pool with cabanas and a lazy river. The clubhouse features a bar with happy hour with light bites, and daily events. We hit happy hour the day we arrived and witnessed several families participating in “Music Bingo”. We would have stuck around for the classic rock round if we didn’t have prior plans to visit Old Town Bluffton. The resort also features a well-equipped fitness center, pickleball courts, a dog park, and an adults only section with its own clubhouse and pool (a little pricey).

Golf Course Experience

#6 - Hilton Head National Golf Course

Hilton Head National Golf Club is adjacent to the RV resort, making it incredibly convenient for golfers like us who seek out memorable golf experiences. This Gary Player-designed course is known for its pristine conditions, strategic layout, and lack of residential development, which means you can enjoy unobstructed views and a peaceful game, and I won’t break anybody’s window with a wayward tee-shot. The fairways are generous, but water hazards and well-placed bunkers keep things interesting. The course is challenging enough for experienced players yet welcoming for casual golfers (I broke 100… seriously).

The clubhouse has a well-stocked pro shop, and the the 19th hole served as a great place for us to meet up with a former Judith Drive neighbor who moved down several years ago. Service throughout the facility is friendly and professional.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re an avid golfer or just looking for a high-end RV resort with excellent amenities, Hilton Head National delivers. The combination of luxury, convenience, and recreational opportunities makes this a standout destination for RV travelers. It’s not the cheapest option in the area, but if you’re looking for a premium experience, it’s well worth the price.
