Our Coach

2021 Renegade Vienna FWC (full-wall, cab over).

After significant research on Class C motor homes, we landed on the Renegade Vienna. These coaches are top-of-the-line 25’ Class C RVs, built on the Mercedes Benz Sprinter 3500 chassis. The appointments and detail of the coach are luxury all the way. Fine wood cabinets, smart TV and two other TVs, including a 32” TV outside, plus other audio entertainment systems. The coach is always online through the Winegard Connect2 mounted on the roof. And with a unlimited Verizon data plan we can stream content rolling down the road

Who is Skyler

On June 4th of 2022, we sadly had to put Skyler down due to her stomach flipping and causing “Bloat”. We had been camping at a local RV park for the 3 days prior, and had returned home Friday afternoon the 3rd. Everything seemed fine until the evening when the family was enjoying a backyard fire in the Solo Stove. We noticed her having difficulty and vomiting. We didn’t think much of it until it continued into the night. She couldn’t keep anything down. I stayed up with her all night as she was clearly in discomfort. I had no idea what was going on, and in the morning it was evident she was in serious distress. Her abdomen was swollen and she couldn’t stay on her feet. We immediately took her to Newtown Vet Hospital, which is the preferred emergency service in the area. They diagnosed her with bloat and a twisted stomach and gave us our options. The condition is serious and if not treated immediately, it is fatal. Surgery in an older dog (12) such as Skyler is a risky undertaking, and there is little chance that it will be successful. Unfortunately our only option was to euthanize her.

It’s never easy to lose a loving pet. Skyler was our 3rd dog and we cried as we did for Brahma and Molly before her. Skyler was unique in so many ways and perhaps the quirkiest dog we’ve ever met. We picked her up early on a September morning in 2010 at Tractor Supply in Patterson, NY. PAWS listed her as a Lap/Shephard mix, but our guess is there is some other hound DNA mixed in. She was a very loving companion and kept us laughing with all her little oddities. She was there when our grandchildren were born and loved them unconditionally. She will be missed, but we will carry on the legacy of “SkyDog” through our adventures.

Why SkyDog

When Mark retired from Marriott (Starwood) at the beginning of 2018, he set up a consulting LLC that he named SkyDog Partners. It was unique and much better than just coining the family surname. But who is SkyDog. Well, every pet needs a nickname and Skyler’s became Skydog. But there’s more to the story. Skydog is also the nickname of the late, great, blues/rock guitarist Duane Allman, founder of the Allman Brothers Band. Further, Duane “Skydog” Allman’s tragic death in a motorcycle accident, occurred on October 29, 1971, Terri’s 16th birthday. Too many synergies to ignore. So, when we decided to document and chronicle this next stage of our lives, we thought SkyDog Adventures made sense.
