28 LPs in 28 Days

Over the 2021 Christmas holiday our daughter Darcie visited from California. On Christmas Eve she started thumbing through our vinyl collection and pulling out some LPs she wanted to listen to. In the 20 years we’ve lived in CT I don’t think I’ve played any of that vinyl. I had an old turntable and receiver but I’ve had a Sonos system for at least the last 15 years and don’t even own a CD player any more. Our music library of over 12,000 digital files is streamed to three different Sonos zones.

But fear not, I figured out a way to reconnect the turntable, receiver and speakers, and Darcie managed to select a fantastic group of classic vinyl to spin all day Christmas. Listening to those albums inspired me to buy a new turntable that could connect direct to Sonos. Then I was inspired further to share some of the most significant albums of my youth. Music that shaped my musical tastes through my youth to a young adult.

Each day for February I will post a video review of these albums. I hope you enjoy them and maybe learn a little bit about the music. I’ll provide links in the description so you can hear some of this music for yourself. Maybe we like the same thing. Maybe you have some of these and you’ll be inspired to pull them out, dust them off, and spin them. Music is the universal language. It speaks to everyone.
