Sooie… at Hog Valley!

This past Thursday through Sunday was the 2nd annual Renegade Vienna & Villagio Rally. This years Rally was held at Hog Valley RV and Treehouse Resort in Fayetteville, Arkansas. About 18 Vienna & Villagio rigs attended the Rally, with well over 30 attendees. Our event organizers Suneeta and Noralee put together an awesome agenda for everyone. There was an opening happy hour, a Friday morning Q&A with Renegade representatives Merve Miller and Jim Hickey, a walking tour of several rigs, and a BBQ/potluck on Saturday night to wrap up the rally. The social aspect of the event was exactly what Terri and I needed as relative newbies to RV’ing and our Renegade Vienna. We met so many fellow road warriors, shared so many stories, learned so many RV hacks, and made many new friends.

I originally had my doubts about Hog Valley, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. It was a perfect park for a rally like this. Our group had 24/7 access to the park’s Community Center, which was perfect for our social get togethers and educational sessions with Renegade. The RV sites were level and the gravel composite surface soaked up the Saturday evening thunderstorm amazingly well. The weather was a little warm, but that didn’t stop us from finding time to hang out in front of our rigs and swapping stories over cold drinks and beers.

Thursday’s Happy Hour only required us to bring an appetizer and our beverage of choice. Suneeta and Noralee took care of the rest by kicking of the Rally with a meet & great ice breaker, giving each attendee a chance to share a little about themselves and their experiences with their Renegade. The Q&A with Merve and Jim was excellent and there was no holding back from the rally’ers. Many of our own questions came up from others and were answered, with Terri taking notes furiously. The walking tour of other rigs was a great way to learn how others have modified their rigs to make them feel more personal. We came away with a lot of great ideas. We also got to see a variety of floor plans. Saturday’s BBQ/potluck and Kirby’s birthday party (Noralee’s one-year-old Norwich Terrier) was the perfect way to end our stay.

Huge thanks go out to Suneeta, Noralee, Merve and Jim. Also, thanks to Wayne for helping Merve lube everyone’s slide (get your head out of the gutter). The RV’s slide mechanism might be the most important aspect of your rig. There are so many horror stories about slides getting stuck, resulting in costly repairs. Lubing them correctly with the right product is essential.

We left Hog Valley with many new friends who we hope to see on the road in the future. We hope they follow us on SkyDog Adventures and on our Facebook page here. Until next year’s rally, travel safe.
