“Gotta get down, gotta get down to Arkansas…”

The Chris Stapleton song was stuck in my head as we headed out this morning for our two-week trip down and back to Fayetteville Arkansas for the Renegade Vienna/Villagio annual rally. There will be around 20 Renegade rigs down at Hog Valley RV & Treehouse Resort for 3 days and nights. There are several social and educational events planned and it will be a great opportunity for us to meet other Renegade owners and Renegade corporate representatives, and learn more about our wonderful RV. We have our questions lined up and expect to come home with a whole bunch of new knowledge on how to support and maintain our Vienna.

Our trip will take us through 9 states over 15 days, covering over 3,100 miles. We’ve found some interesting waypoints along the way to add to the adventure. The beauty of this kind of traveling is that there are numerous stops between point A & B each day that might draw your interest. We try to plan short drives between nightly stops (300 miles or less), so that we can explore interesting points along our route. Look for details of those stops in additional posts over the next 14 days.

Our first day of the trip found us returning to a Harvest Host we visited last August. Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery lies just off I-80 in the central Pennsylvania town of Curwensville. We stayed here on day one of our Wisconsin/Milwaukee Irish Fest trip last year and felt it was the perfect boondock spot for a first day. Today we met the owner Ken Starr who is truly one of the good ones. The winery is the result of four generations of wine making, beginning with Ken’s father, who taught Ken winemaking. In turn, Ken taught his son and then his grandson, who now heads up the winemaking process. All grapes are imported from a variety of regions, including California and Washington state. Their varietals run the gamut from sweet to dry and everything in between.

This is one of our favorite Harvest Host locations. For $10 they provide 50amp electrical hookup and their guest WiFi has plenty of bandwidth to stream the Stanley Cup hockey game. The location is beyond quiet and peaceful. Tonight there was not a breath of wind and a very comfortable 71 degrees. Getaway tomorrow morning will be as simple as slide in, levelers retracted, unplug and roll away.

A great way to start our latest adventure.
